Bios

Stephanie Pedretti is a frequent performer in the Chicagoland area and a founding member of the Pedretti-Knight Duo as well as the Lunae Duo.  She is a flute instructor at the DePaul University Community Music Division, the Music Academy of Rockford College, and the Music Institute of Chicago.


She has recently returned to the United States after receiving a Graduate Diploma in Suzuki Pedagogy at the Talent Education Institute in Matsumoto, Japan, where she studied with Toshio Takahashi.  She holds a Master of Music in Flute Performance from Michigan State University, where she studied with Richard Sherman, and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from DePauw University, where she studied with Anne Reynolds.


She was a winner of the Allen Keller Memorial Young Artist Competition and the DePauw Concerto Competition and has performed as a featured soloist with the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra, the DePauw Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra of the Talent Education Institute.  She has also performed with the Chicago Philharmonia, Orchestra Sinfonico del NewOperafestival di Roma, Dearborn Symphony Orchestra, Lansing Lyric Opera and the Chautauqua Music Festival, as well as in solo and chamber music performances in the U.S., Canada, Austria, Italy and Japan.

Celebrating over 25 years as a classical guitarist, Laura Knight’s musical roots are planted deeply in Chicago. She began her studies with Sonia Michelson, and later received a B.M. from DePaul University and a M.M. from Northwestern University.  In addition to her formal studies, Ms. Knight has a decade of experience in early childhood music education, a certification in Orff, and has completed all 9 levels of Suzuki guitar teacher certification.


Ms. Knight was the Guitar Area Coordinator for the 2006 Suzuki Association of the Americas Conference, and the Guitar Area Assistant Coordinator in the 2004 Conference. She is regularly invited to serve as guest clinician at workshops across the country. Additionally, she produces annual guitar workshops for students in the Chicagoland area. Ms. Knight has taught at the foremost music schools in Chicago. Currently, Ms. Knight is on faculty at the Suzuki Music School of Barrington, and maintains a private studio in Chicago. In addition to teaching, Ms. Knight actively performs both as a soloist and as a member of the Pedretti-Knight Duo. She is the featured artist on Heart Offerings, an instructional yoga CD, and recently recorded music for a documentary film on the life of Emilio Carranza. Most recently, Ms. Knight has been elected a board member of the Chicago Classical Guitar Society.
